Competition Divisions:
Basketball Free Throw is an individual age competition which is divided into both men and women divisions.
Tournament:
Each participant will shoot 25 free throws. The 25 free throws will be shot in two sessions. Each participant will shoot 10 shots until all in their age division have shot at which time each will shoot 15 more shots to complete their 25 free throws for a score.
Format:
- Tennis shoes are needed for this event.
- There will be a referee at each basket.
- The basket will be ten feet high.
- Referee will call two people out at a time. One will shoot and one will be the
rebounder.
- Each shooter will be allowed 10 official free throws in first session and 15 official free throws in the second session for his or her age division.
- The free throw shooter must have both feet behind the free throw line.
- Participants will shoot from a standard free throw line of 15 feet.
Scoring:
- The referee will have the card of the designated shooter and will mark it each time a shot is made or missed and will mark it at the end with the total number of shots made out of 25.
- Each free throw shooter gets only one chance to shoot his/her 25 free throws.
- If during a free throw, a contestant steps on or over the scratch line, the throw
will not be declared a scratch, but will count as one of the competitors 25 throws.
- Participants with the greatest number of successful shots will be declared the winners. In the event of a tie, each participant will shoot five additional shots and continue doing so until the tie is broken.
- The three highest scores in each age category below will receive the gold, silver, and bronze medals.

- 65-69
- 70-74
- 75-79
- 80-84
- 85-89
- 90-94
- 95+
Equipment:
- A high school basketball will be used in the competition. Basketballs will be furnished; however, participants may use any basketball with the approval of game officials.
- The field will consist of a standard basketball goal.
Officials:
Official National Basketball rules prevail. Any circumstances not covered in these rules will be ruled upon by the Event Coordinator.
